In base blue livery, 156455 leaves Carlisle with a Newcastle train. The base blue livery was applied during C6 overhaul when the new operator of the Northern franchise was unknown. (Apr-'06)

Before deciding on the final dark blue livery, Northern Rail repainted several units in different variations. In 'tester number 2' colour scheme, 156460 arrives at MetroCentre with a terminating service. (Aug-'06)
