A new service run by Midland Mainline to Cardiff!? Unfortunately not...170102 is now in the 'careful' hands of Central.

In order to cope with existing traffic levels during the ongoing Edinburgh engineering works, a number of new platforms had to be constructed. Known as the 'Balmoral' platform - named because of its proximity to the Balmoral Hotel - was constructed on what was a through carriage siding. Split in two by a crossover, each 'side' is capable of taking a 5-car Voyager. 170393 is shown here.

170399 is currently the only member of the class to carry an advertising livery. It is also one of 3 fitted with First Class seating which can be used by anyone due to Central being a standard-only operator. Seen here at Ely forming a Stansted Airport service. (May-'05)
